Frontier Volleyball Academy - Club Teams

Club teams

We offer four levels of club teams at Frontier: Ember, Flame, Blaze, and Inferno. We do not offer all levels at all age groups. Ember is a 10-14-year-old program; They practice together twice a week for an hour and a half. Flame, Blaze, and Inferno teams practice three times a week. Two of those practices will be two hours long and are team-based, consisting of skills, drills, and gameplay. Once a week, they attend a ninety-minute EDGE practice focusing on endurance, discipline, grit, and education.

What is the difference between the four levels of club teams?

Ember

This program is designed for athletes aged 10-14, offering three separate sessions during the year. They will practice as a group for an hour and a half twice a week for a five- to six-week session, culminating in a tournament. The first session will be an internal frontier tournament. Sessions two and three will compete against other clubs in Alaska.

Flame

Athletes in our Flame division have caught fire, and their love for volleyball is growing!  This is a non-travel level starting at the 15U age division. Flame teams practice three times a week and participate in all local tournaments during the local club season (December to the end of March).

Blaze

Our Blaze athletes are more than on fire. Their passion for the game is infectious! With one to two travel trips, these athletes are making volleyball a priority while also balancing some other passions.  Blaze teams participate in all local tournaments during the local Club season and will travel out of state to the Phoenix Fiesta, held on Presidents' Day weekend. An optional second trip to Seattle for the Emerald City Classic over Memorial Day weekend may occur, depending on the interest of athletes and their parents.

Inferno

Our Inferno division can't be missed because their love of the game is all-consuming!  They travel three times a year, making volleyball a central feature of their day-to-day life, and picture it in their future!  Inferno teams participate in local tournaments. This year, our Inferno Teams will be traveling to the Las Vegas Classic over Presidents' Day Weekend, the Triple Crown West Coast Invitational in Sandy, Utah, the first weekend in June, and USAV Nationals (or AAU Nationals if we do not earn a bid to USAV).

What is an EDGE Practice?

The EDGE practice is designed to develop the whole volleyball player. These practices are formatted to include skill development, fitness training, and mindset training. Athletes will learn and practice the four keys of the EDGE.

Endurance -  Athletes complete a fitness session.  They learn proper mechanics to prevent injuries.  Athletes have weekly fitness expectations that incorporate the weekly lessons on fitness, skills, and mindset principles.

Discipline—Athletes learn the value of consistency, positive self-talk, and hard work. They learn to develop SMART and micro goals to achieve positive gains.

Grit—Athletes develop the skills to face challenges with confidence, courage, and resolve. EDGE practices include mindset training.

Education - We educate our athletes in volleyball skills, physical fitness, and a competitive mindset.  Our skills session will be 30-45 minutes and include blocked volleyball skills training.
